Client The Smith Family

The brief

The Smith Family is an Australian charity helping disadvantaged children to improve their future by getting the most out of their education. Their major annual fundraiser, the Government House Open Day, sees approximately 5,000 Canberrans tour the Governor General’s residence, sample local food, and enjoy an array of live entertainment.

Earlybird were contracted by The Smith Family to plan the 2011 Open Day and manage the onsite logistics on event day.

Our work

Earlybird worked closely with personnel from the local and national Smith Family office to ensure all the client requests were met. We were tasked with the management of the onsite caterers, liaising with performers and putting together the event program. Our team also organised the VIP champagne breakfast, and coordinated the infrastructure orders and set up schedule. A large component of our involvement also saw us work closely with Government House personnel to ensure all aspects of security and onsite protocol were met.

The result

All attendees received the Open Day favourably and the feedback surrounding the event was extremely positive. The Smith Family raised just over $30,000 from ticket gate sales and an estimated 4,500 attended the 2011 event.
